Play parties and dungeons in Montreal

Parties where play is allowed on site, in space set aside for it. That is what separates them from a club night, where people dance. They are held in dungeons, private lofts or rented venues, and almost always require booking ahead.

How it works

There are play spaces and there are spaces to sit, rest and talk. Watching is normal and expected, from a distance and without commentary: interrupting a scene in progress is the most serious thing you can do wrong in these rooms. Nobody has to play, and plenty of people spend the night talking.

Rules and dungeon monitors

Every party publishes its own in advance. They usually cover consent, photos, alcohol, and what is allowed in which space. Larger parties have dungeon monitors, trained to enforce those rules and to step in, and they are introduced at the start.

Negotiating first

What happens is settled before you enter the space: the activities, the intensity, the areas of the body, the safeword. Many venues add a red-yellow-green code, faster to reach for when talking gets hard. Planning aftercare is part of the negotiation, not part of the aftermath.
